Whether you are brand new to piano, returning after many years, or looking for lessons for your child, my lessons are fun, relaxed, and encouraging while providing a strong foundation in reading music, rhythm, technique, music theory, and overall musicianship. In 2026, I am celebrating my 28th year of teaching private piano lessons. I teach a wide range of musical styles, including classical, jazz and blues, popular songs, and music that reflects each student's interests. One of my favorite parts of teaching is helping each student discover music they genuinely can't wait to sit down and play.
MUSICAL BACKGROUND
My father, Professor David E. Bourne, was a wonderful pianist and a lifelong inspiration to me. He was best known for his 48 years as the pianist at The Magic Castle in Hollywood, where he could play just about any request that came his way. This sparked my enthusiasm for studying a variety of musical styles, which I now enjoy passing on to my students. In my twenties, I began teaching and performing, and I now call Sausalito home.
I love working with adults of all ages! It is absolutely never too late to start or return to piano. My ever-growing music library spans many decades and a diverse collection of musical genres, making it easy to find music that will inspire each student.

RECITALS I plan one regular recital every year for students that would like to experience performing. When I have a group interested in jazz and blues improvisation, I plan a second smaller Jam Night Recital.
